I am a graphic design student in Houston, Texas. Houston is hot and humid. I prefer snow.
I am pro dogs in sweaters. I’m very good at people watching. If people watching were a sport, I would be a highly paid professional athlete. One of my all time favorite hobbies is having intellectual discussions about pop culture and otherwise non-scholarly topics. I most recently engaged in a debate of whether or not slitting throats is “metal”. [My argument was that even though it was very bloody, the sheer fact that it was efficient instantly made throat slitting not metal.]
I like expressive photojounalism, beautiful typography, well kerned fonts, and clean, simple design. I also enjoy good grammar and punctuation.
I love neo-grotesque slab serif fonts, ligatures and base line grids. Double-storey letters and teardrop terminals pretty much rock my socks off. Rockwell and Futura are probably my favorite fonts. In conclusion, Georgia would be perfect if it weren’t for the lowercase ‘a’ and the ear on the lowercase ‘g’.
I am a huge fan of Erik Spiekermann, even if he does hate Helvetica.
Alfred Eisenstaedt is by and far the most influential person ever to live. He is my hero. Also, I think it stands to be said that Rahm Emanuel is a certified badass.
