Pop Tarts vs. Toaster Strudels

The question was brought up: are Toaster Strudels the same thing as Pop Tarts? Are Pop Tarts even pastries?

Pastries are anything baked from the same general ingredients (flour, butter, eggs, etc). In essence, cookies are waterless cakes.

Technically they are both pastries, though they are the same in the sense that a circle and a square are the same because they are both shapes. Pop Tarts are, indeed, pastries. I believe it even says on the box “Toaster Pastries”.

A Pop Tart is more like a hard biscuit or a cookie; Toaster Strudels are self-titled foods, as they are, in fact, strudels. A strudel is a German pastry with flaky layers and a filling (often fruit). Pop Tarts are not flaky. Toaster Strudels MUST be toasted/microwaved/heated in some way in order to be eaten; Pop Tarts may be enjoyed hot, cold or at room temperature.

Overall, Pop Tarts are better because they are more versatile. Pop Tarts come in more varieties, are non perishable and don’t require cooking to be eaten. Even so, Toaster Strudels are more delicious.
